We Built This City – A Documentary On Electronic Music Made In Cologne
  Cologne is internationally recognized as a centre for electronic music. The musicians, DJs and labels active in Cologne during the 90's unintentionally created a trademark, the "Sound of Cologne", that is known in clubs and on dancefloors around the globe. This DVD asks how Cologne got where it is today and takes a look at the future of electronic music. "It's all about the low key disco culture that we actually live on", says JUSTUS KÖHNCKE, former member of Whirlpool Productions and, as a solo artist, the pride of Cologne-based label KOMPAKT. The interviews, music clips and exclusive live material on this DVD provide a portrait of those people who, artistically and strategically, ensure that Cologne is and remains a fixed point for creative musicians from all over the world. Labels such as A-MUSIK, KOMPAKT, TRAUM, WARE and SONIG are constantly discovering new talent. Established acts such as MOUSE ON MARR or WOLFGANG VOIGT continue to be productive and to prepare the ground for successful
newcomers such as ADA or DOMINIK EULBERG. The POPKOMM, once the biggest music fair in the world, left the city to try its fortune, or misfortune, elsewhere. Cologne reacted with typical stubbornness and created alternatives. The C/O POP festival, for example, which got off to a more than successful start, and the local labels which are flourishing despite all market prognoses to the contrary. This 175 minute DVD features labels such as B-Pitch Control, Shitkatapult, !K7, Tresor etc as well as interviews with artists such as Monolake, features on magazines, record shops, bars, clubs and distributors who are involved with the scene. Took some time to get it but here it is.
