Sad truth and unclear future that we need to face

I never thaught i will have to write something like this but unfortunately i need to.
As all of you should know anti-piracy actions are now top priority.
Megaupload is lost, filesonic is not working as it should and the last sad message is that most active member of rareclips (monkey87) just informed me that he will had to quit because his fileserve account got banned 'due to violations of our (fileserve's) Terms and Conditions. '
Why quit? Let me cite his words:

'It is sad when you give so much time and hard work just to make other people happy and you wake up and figure out that only place where you had your files (primary mirror) is simply gone. Second thing is ACTA which is a big danger for all of us and will propably lead to total anihilation of all the 1-click hosting services, it's only a matter of time... Hope you'll figure something out and i'd like to thank you for giving me oportunity to share stuff with people. That's all i have to say i just wish you will never have to close this wonderful place, don't ever let good electronic music be forgotten!

What now? First of all, no worries - I DON'T want and I WON'T close this site, which is a part of me, something like a child and is part and of my vision of a better (perfect?) world where people share stuff with each other, share links to good music, musicvideos, ideas etc. and they're not put in jail for that! If you have any ideas how to 'revive/transform' rareclips (almost all the links are down now and there is no way single person can reup them all + that might be pointless as most of filehosters are experiencing some difficulties) please write a comment. And i beg you don't write coments like 'noooooooooooo omg omg don't do that, monkey87 come back we need you', all we need is a strong and determined COMMUNITY, and TEAMWORK to make it all happen. And then when we grow/build it up, no SOPA, PIPA or ACTA can stop us. Amen.

'D-Tonate' appears to be the first single artist/ensemble DVD for the One Dot Zero organization. This DVD comes right after 'One Dot Zero 1 & 2', that showcased works from various artists, all cutting edge. For us technophobes D-Fuse will be known mostly for their monthly Wire ad but there remit expands much further than that, check www.dfuse.com for proof. This DVD has a running time of 90 mins, showcasing cutting edge moving graphic art sequenced against the music of artists such as Fibla, Funkstorung, Kid 606, Burnt Friedman, Scanner, Braille and more. Each video/music sequence can be viewed from multi angles and the whole DVD is fully programmable so you can choose to edit a flowing piece from all your favourite parts. A DVD that will give your player a full workout with a solid soundtrack to boot. Can't ask for much more than that. Highly recommended.

Hooking up with Detroit's 430 West Records outfit Octave One feat. Random Noise Generation, Tresor Records is striking out into the brave new world of audio/visual synergy with this CD/DVD release. Referencing the hallowed state so beloved by those who see an apocalypse on every corner, 'Off The Grid' marks the 31st release for Octave One, with Lawrence and Lenny Burden calling in collaborators from around the globe to help realise their concept of visualising their music beyond screensaver-esque background fodder. Using performances recorded in Scotland (Glasgow), Germany (Berlin & Leipzig), North America (Austin, TX), The Netherlands (Eindhoven), Finland (Helsinki), UK (Liverpool) and Austria (Vienna), the DVD sees classic Octave One tracks being reworked and enhanced, some lost videos seeing the light of day as well as a full length concert film so you can pretend you were there... Blistered with energy and creaking under the weight of such a formidable back catalogue, it's a credit to all those involved that it didn't become a reverential exercise in collective back-patting. Not forgetting the CD which features a ruck of great Octave One and Random Noise Generation material (all stamped out of Detroit steel - with the thudding beats and melodious back drop complimenting each other perfectly), this is a comprehensive collection that assuages both the ear and eye. open sounds presents female pressure dvd1

Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of female:pressure, a pioneering project to raise the visibility of female artists in electronic music, and following up on our open:sounds CD (released in 2006) we are proud to present our first DVD: female:pressure dvd1

From the beginning, VJs (Video Jockeys) and other visual artists have been part of the female:pressure community because they essentially shape the characteristics of almost every realm in electronic music and club culture. Yet, the work of video artists is not being recognized appropriately in this context - this applies both to their payment as to their public perception. To counteract the one-sided focus on DJs and musicians we want to offer "our" visual artists the overdue possibility to present their work adequately.

Our production platform open:sounds - implemented in 2005 - provided the basis for the DVD: female:pressure musicians made new tracks and remixes of the previously existent material available through open:sounds.

Thanks to the funding of "Verein Stadtimpuls Wien" (Vienna City Impulse Association), we were able to invite female:pressure video artists resident in Vienna to create videos for the 21 international tracks compiled from our open:sounds pool. Their works cover the broad spectrum of different methods of visualizing electronic music: from live video mixing to video clips to experimental filmlets and animations. Christina Goestl's design of the DVD connects the heterogeneous works and creates continuity. Thus, one can view single clips as well as watch the DVD in full length.

Through free distribution of the whole pressing (3000 copies) and the application of Creative Commons Licenses (Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works) for video and audio material, we want to ensure a most widespread non-commercial use, increase the presence of female:pressure artists - especially visual artists - and demonstrate networking by contemporary, alternative means. The DVD will be available in selected record stores and online. Hardwax Berlin carries out the physical distribution.
