Suicide Commando - X.20 (1986 >>>>> 2006)To celebrate the 20th anniversary of SC, Johan Van Roy offers his word-wide fans an amazing present with this box containing the 1st dvd ever of SC, a remix cd, a best of cd and an Mcd. Let?s start with the dvd mainly taken from the live show in Dresden of October 2006. The artistic element is really professional featuring a great sound, images taken from different angles and of course a real great show. Some of SC biggest hits can be now seen on your screen. The visuals of the show are also amazing. They?re extremely bloody, but the effects are remarkable! The dvd also contains 2 live extracts of the Zillo Open Air Festival from 2004, 1 track of a show in Kopenhagen (Denmark 2006) and the 1st video clip ever of SC. The song for this clip is maybe a bit surprising as ?We are the sinners? doesn?t really belong to the biggest hits of J. Van Roy. Anyway, the clip is sober, but perfectly representing the torturing and desperate universe of SC. One more and last thing about the dvd, is the absence of the real 1st big hit of SC (See you in hell). Well, other songs like Bind, torture, kill, Conspiracy with the devil, Menschenfresser, Raise your God, Love breeds suicide, Godsend and the unavoidable Hellraiser will satisfy all fans. Over now to the remix-cd featuring 13 tracks and some of the greatest songs in the 20 years existence of SC. The remixes have been executed by befriend bands, most of them having been inspired by the dark electronic and ?klinikal? style of SC. The biggest names here are Grendel (Menschenfresser), J. Montelius of Covenant (Bind, torture, kill), :W: (Bleed for us all), Spetsnaz (Face of death) and X-Fusion (Cause of death: suicide). My favorite remix comes from one of the less familiar names. The Australian Tankt did a great and progressive job on See you in hell. The most surprising and totally reworked remix comes from Anthoni J. playing an acoustic guitar version of Love breeds suicide, sung with clear vocals! Time for the best of-cd, which is definitely the best cd of the box. 15 tracks have been selected and I can imagine how difficult it must have been to make this choice. One thing is for sure, the greatest hits ever from these past 20 years have been selected (Bind, torture, kill, Conspiracy with the devil, Dein Herz, mein Gier, Love breeds suicide?, Necrophilia, Cause of death: suicide, See you in hell, Hellraiser, Comatose delusion). The good news for the fans is that some versions have been previosuly unreleased. We here get songs from all SC-albums and some real old and maybe unexpected ones like Save me, Desire and Murder. Facing the titles of the songs and (re)listening to the lyrics of SC its like an evidence that the tormenting and disturbing clich-lyrics are only dealing about the evil and saddest side of life. Theres no real poetry neither happy theme here, but its clear that SC hasn''t been set up to entertain folks with happy tunes and optimistic lyrics. SC sounds dark and transposes this darkness into a nihilistic sound-approach of life! The last disc from this box is a Mcd of F*** you bitch, a song extract from the last album ?Bond, torture, kill and, which sounds rather Grendel-like? a bit like the teacher has been once influenced by one of his most faithful pupils. Next to the ?TB mix by SC, Soman and Combichrist did a remix as well. Next we also get a 2007 re:count remix of ?Body count proceed? originally released on the Mindstrip?-cd and one song (Retrace) by DB.F. This was a project between SC and David Kirvel of Pierrepoint, but which has been (unfortunately) never released. It?s a cool song, featuring the coldness of SC with some polishment from Pierrepoint. Last, but not least this box also contains a 48 (!) pages booklet featuring the biggest lines in the history of this Belgian master of electronic darkness! To conclude, nothing really new, but damned essential!
